End of 2013

Isaiah 55:10-11
Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)
10 For just as rain and snow fall from the sky
and do not return there, but water the earth,
causing it to bud and produce,
giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth —
it will not return to me unfulfilled;
but it will accomplish what I intend,
and cause to succeed what I sent it to do.”

From the book “Wellcome to the house of my heart” by Eva Spångberg.
(from Swedish “Välkommen till mitt Hjärtas hus”)
Eva Spångberg was a Swedish artist who worked with carving in wood. In her book the following translation is from day 31.

“Have I the right to take a Bible verse that God gave in a given moment in time and apply it on my own life? May I. as I have done in this little book, give these old words to you from God? The Lord once said to his people: “These words that I give you today; you shall keep in your hearts” He said that these holy words were meant for his own people; Israel.
But the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. If Jesus hadn’t come the old words would have only applied to those who first received them. But through Jesus the words also apply to us. Through Jesus they are brought from God right into our own lives.
Jesus makes the words come alive. When we open the door of our heart and accept the word of the Bible we accept Jesus himself. He comes to you from God.”

Wishing you a Blessed New Year 2014

Sincerely yours,Ida

One of the most difficult topics to write about.

A debate occurred some time ago in a couple of newspapers about a little girl that was healed from leukemia; and it got me thinking about a piece of paper in my Bible. It is a recap of the healings that Jesus performed.
The parents of this special girl dealt with the debate with this calm reflection;
"She is still with us".
The gospel of John tells about three occasions when Jesus healed people, and below you have a list of the miracles from the other three Gospels.

John 4:46-54   Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
John 5:1-9       The Healing at the Bethesda Pool
John 9              Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind

I can’t picture Jesus doing anything that would hurt the already hurting. I don’t see him as somebody who would turn his back on anyone asking him for help. But nevertheless people are sick and they stay sick until their last day on this earth. There are numerous courageous Christians who in their painful situation  endure and find peace, while asking God for strength to be able to live one day at a time.
Jesus came to desperate people in desperate situations and he did something out of the ordinary. He still does.
Apostle Paul asked God to deliver him from a "thorn in his flesh"and no matter what anyone thinks that thorn was; it wasn't removed. Paul had to endure this "thorn" in the midst of his amazing, powerful life. He  held his eyes fixed on one thing only: Jesus.

Jesus Heals the Sick

23 Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people. 24 News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed; and he healed them.
