The Greatest Of These - Larnelle Harris (2005)
If I speak in the
tongues of men and of angels
But have not love
I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal
And if I have the gift of prophesy
And can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge
And if I have a faith that can move the mountains
But have not love
I am nothing
If I give all I possess to the poor
And surrender my body to the flames
But have not love
I gain nothing
Love is patient
Love is kind
It does not envy
Does not boast
It is not proud
It is not rude
It is not self-seeking
It is not easily angered
It keeps no record of wrongs
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres
Love never fails
But where there are prophecies they will cease
Where there are tongues they will be stilled
Where there is knowledge it will pass away
For we know in part and we prophesy in part
But when perfection comes the imperfect disappears
When I was a child I talked like a child
I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child
When I became a man I put my childish ways behind me
Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror
Then we shall see face to face
Now I know in part, then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known
And now these three remain
Faith, hope, and love
But the greatest of these is love

His eye is on the sparrow - Wintley Phipps

With God on our side like this, how can we lose?
If God didn’t hesitate to put everything on the line for us, embracing our condition and exposing himself to the worst by sending his own Son,
is there anything else he wouldn’t gladly and freely do for us?
And who would dare tangle with God by messing with one of God’s chosen?
Who would dare even to point a finger?
The One who died for us—who was raised to life for us!—is in the presence of God at this very moment sticking up for us.
Do you think anyone is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ’s love for us?
There is no way!
Not trouble, not hard times,
not hatred, not hunger,
not homelessness, not bullying threats,
not backstabbing,
not even the worst sins listed in Scripture:
Romans 8:31-39
31-39 So, what do you think?With God on our side like this, how can we lose?

angelic or demonic,
today or tomorrow,
high or low,
thinkable or unthinkable
—absolutely nothing
can get between us and God’s love
because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.
